Project title: Minimax Toy Factory
Project Description: Minimax Toy Factory is a 1:200 (approximately 540mm x 430mm) wooden block toy version of the Minimax Fire Extinguisher Factory, which was formerly located in Feltham and was demolished in 1986. The former factory was built in 1911 and now, the only surviving remnant is the distinctive Art Deco entrance, which was structurally stabilised and moved to the corner of the former site. The site is now home to a large distribution centre owned by Nevill Long & Encon Ltd. The new structure is a monolithic volume which fails to address the surrounding urban environment and stands in opposition to the fine grain and rich industrial architecture of the former Minimax Factory Complex. The project commemorates the former factory. RIP.
