Bio: Grace Edith Radford is a Belfast based visual artist who has exhibited in Belfast, London, Jerusalem and Zagreb.
Project title: Sisters of Mercy - Twisted Fire Extinguishers
Project Description: The painting Sisters of Mercy - Twisted Fire Extinguishers began with an interest in the shape of the conical fire extinguisher. From here, Radford imagined what it would look like if the extinguisher was integrated into the conical habit traditionally worn by Medieval nuns. She says “These nuns live in a tower on the Isle of Wight where they are regularly on call in case of fire 🔥. They ensure safety, compassion and ward off evil spirits. Their glamorous headwear doubles as fire saving equipment.”
